Strengthening Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Security Requires a Multi-Layered Approach: ASPA

The Authentication Solution Providers’ Association (ASPA) welcomes the Government of India’s initiative to strengthen oversight and traceability within the pharmaceutical packaging ecosystem. Enhancing accountability and transparency in pharmaceutical packaging is an important step toward safeguarding patient safety and combating counterfeit medicines.

While the proposed registration framework for packaging suppliers is a positive move, registration alone may not fully address counterfeiting risks. ASPA recommends adopting Authentication and Traceability Solutions (ATS) alongside registration to create a more secure and reliable supply chain.

ASPA believes any regulatory framework should balance stronger oversight with ease of compliance, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises, while encouraging standardized security practices across the pharmaceutical packaging ecosystem.
