Sassello is a green area of the Ligurian Apennines that has claimed its confectionery vocation since the mid nineteenth century with the handmade production of the traditional Amaretto Morbido. Augusto Cavallero – founder of La Sassellese – invented the Canestrellino, a mini delicacy that is eaten in one bite and that is the smaller version of the Canestrello, a local sweet of the Ligurian tradition. He also deserves credit for introducing the flow-pack packaging of the Amaretto in the 1970’s. The company nowadays operates under the name ADR, maintaining a high-quality level of products and a careful selection of raw materials.
Markem-Imaje has accompanied ADR on a path of standardization and continuous improvement, aligning operational and quality objectives, thus achieving the continuity and reliability of all products. Continuous InkJet, Thermal Transfer Overprinters and Print and Apply systems work on ADR’s lines, all entirely managed by the Markem-Imaje’s industrial software, CoLOS®. The applications operate in full compliance with the requirements of large-scale distribution, GS1 and the regulations of different foreign markets.
ADR chose Markem-Imaje as their coding and marking partner because of the company’s excellent track record. According to Ervin Persano, Production Manager at ADR, “We looked at Markem-Imaje because we knew the history of a company would be very important. And so, we established this great relationship with the company.”
Mr Persano also highlights the quality of technical and customer service as decisive factors to partner with Markem-Imaje. The fact that the Markem-Imaje Virtual Assistant can be accessed easily via a QR code on the printer’s touch screen and the intuitive guidance in case of a problem adds to ADR’s satisfaction. “With the introduction of a QR code, we can immediately understand the exact type of error that the machine has and consequently intervene in a timely manner. This obviously allows us to optimize time and reduce production stoppages.”
Federica Milo, Team Leader for Supplies and Service at Markem-Imaje Italy, underlines that the dialogue with the customer is essential for a successful collaboration. “In our work, offering technical support means being there before, during and after every customer need. We train customers to use our service portfolio, to solve problems and to order the right parts, in complete autonomy.”
ADR is continuously investing to further reduce the possibility of error in product marking. With Markem-Imaje as its marking and coding ally, the future of high-quality Amaretto made by ADR, looks brighter than ever.
