The future’s bright: Crespel & Deiters introduces colored crumbs for breading, toppings and other creative concepts

New design possibilities for convenience products, snacks and baked goods with color-stable crumbs made with natural colorants

Crespel & Deiters is launching Lory® Crumb Colored, a range of colored crumbs for breading and toppings. Made with natural colorants, the crumbs remain color-stable during cooking and are flavor-neutral. Available in green, pink, yellow, orange and white, they can be used individually or in combination. From coatings for meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, cheese or plant-based products, to toppings for baked goods and snacks: Lory® Crumb Colored is suitable for industrial applications as well as the convenience and foodservice segments. It can also enhance limited editions and support promotional campaigns.

Lory® Crumb Colored is sugar-free and created with coloring foods. While the crumbs create a striking visual effect, they are flavor-neutral and so do not affect the taste of the finished product. Colors remain stable throughout preparation and are clearly visible in the end product.

Kaleidoscope of colors for a range of applications

Lory® Crumb Colored is not limited to classic breading applications. The crumbs work with all common substrates and can also be used as a topping for baked goods, giving a distinctive look to rolls, pretzel products, snack buns and finger foods.

When blended with conventional breadcrumbs, Lory® Crumb Colored does not bleed and remains clearly visible, enabling targeted patterns and coverage, as well as striking color accents.

“Colored Crumbs give product developers and marketers a tool that helps attract attention and makes products stand out from the crowd,” says Birgit Wessner, Product Manager at Crespel & Deiters. “Color becomes a communication tool for brands, occasions and target audiences. And because the natural colorants do not affect the flavor, such creative freedom does not require any recipe adjustments.”

With Lory® Crumb Colored, it’s easy to create limited editions or customized product themes: snacks in team or national colors, seasonal promotions, co-branded products or limited editions for campaign launches. Colored Crumbs can be easily incorporated into existing production processes and breading lines. When several colors are used in one application, they remain stable and deliver reliable, reproducible results on an industrial scale.
