Pour Over Coffee Roasters (POCR) to launch Continental Blend on International Coffee Day on October 1

Pour Over Coffee Roasters (POCR) is bringing Colombian and Indian beans together in a new 100 per cent Arabica blend, pairing a Papayo Natural from Huila, Colombia, with an MNEB from Chikmagalur, India.

The blend pairs a light-medium roasted Papayo Natural from Huila, Colombia, known for its expressive, fruit-forward character, with a medium-roasted MNEB from Chikmagalur, India, which brings greater depth and structure to the cup. The resulting profile moves from tropical fruits and berries to roasted pine nuts and dark chocolate, with berry marmalade notes, full bodied texture and a silky finish.

Called The Continental Blend, the coffee will be available from October 1, 2026, marking International Coffee Day, across all Pour Over Coffee Roasters outlets. The release celebrates the craftsmanship of Indian and Colombian coffee-growing communities, bringing two distinct origins together on a global stage while allowing the individual character, terroir and identity of each coffee to remain intact.

It reflects POCR’s ambition to move beyond simply celebrating Indian coffee and instead position it alongside celebrated origins from around the world. Launched on International Coffee Day, it becomes a global talking point around India’s evolving coffee identity, its growing expertise, and its place on the world specialty coffee map.

“India should not only be recognised as a coffee-producing country, but as an active contributor to the global specialty coffee movement. Indian coffee is being grown, processed, roasted, studied, experimented with and celebrated in ways that deserve a place on the global table. The Continental Blend is our contribution to that conversation. For a long time Indian coffee went out of the country in sacks and nobody really asked where it came from. That’s changing now. You have got farmers here trying new things with processing, and people are paying attention. Putting a Chikmagalur next to a Huila in the same bag is our way of saying it can hold its own.”  said Aditya Sharma, co-founder of POCR,” says Aditya Sharma, founder of Pour Over Coffee Roasters.

The Colombian component is a Papayo Natural from Huila, a region known for producing distinctive Arabica coffees. The Indian component is an MNEB from Chikmagalur, one of India’s established coffee-growing regions. Their contrasting roast profiles have been designed to retain the character of both origins while creating a balanced blend.

POCR said the aim was to keep both origins recognisable in the same cup rather than have one imitate the other.

“The idea was not to make a Colombian coffee more Indian, or an Indian coffee more Colombian. We wanted both coffees to retain their individual character and see what happens when they meet in the same cup,” adds Ritika Sharma, Founder, Pour Over Coffee Roasters. “The brightness of Huila brings a completely different expression to the depth of Chikmagalur. For us, the blend is a conversation between two coffee-growing regions.”

The launch comes as Indian specialty coffee becomes increasingly connected to global coffee-producing regions. While India remains a significant coffee-growing country, particularly through its rich and increasingly diverse Arabica and Robusta production across coffee-growing regions of India, specialty roasters and consumers are also exploring coffees from established international origins such as Colombia.

POCR sees this cross-origin experimentation as part of India’s evolving role in the global specialty coffee ecosystem. The company believes India’s contribution to the sector extends beyond cultivation, with the country developing greater depth across processing, roasting, brewing and consumer appreciation.

“The specialty coffee conversation in India does not have to be about choosing between Indian coffee and coffees from the rest of the world. There is room for both,” Sharma said. “The Continental Blend brings that conversation to life, blending two very different coffee landscapes together while allowing each to remain recognisable.”

The Continental Blend will be available through Pour Over Coffee Roasters outlets from October 1, 2026.
